September 2012 Blogs

Beautiful Girl of the Week is a series of Beautiful Girls who are stand outs for what they contribute to the world through their beautiful actions!  We feature the Beautiful Girl of the Week on the Rewrite Beautiful blog as an attempt to inspire other girls and women to use their own gifts and talents to impact their communities. Our hope is that bringing positive attention to women’s actions will inspire them to embrace their own creative calling!

Rachel is a fellow writing friend of mine who constantly inspires me! Whether she is writing a children's book, parenting her son, having a conversation with her husband or even just preparing to go to a writers conference, Rachel always gives 110% of herself to the task at hand. One of my favorite sayings is, "The purpose of life is to LIVE IT." Rachel fully lives her life and those who are in it reap the benefits of this beautiful womans labors of love. I hope you enjoy learning about Rachel as much I enjoy knowning her.

Irvina: Tell our beautiful friends about a fun or exciting project you’re currently working on?

Rachel:  I am currently following a dream to create picture books worthy of the children who will read them.

Irvina: I've read some of your books Rachel and they are uber worthy! So Rachel, what is one of your greatest passions?

Rachel: Revealing to others their greatness.  It's amazing how many have forgotten how lovely they are.

Irvina: That's a rad passion and quite true! What a passion to have! What do you enjoy doing during your free time?

Rachel: Most anything, with the exception of laundry, dishes, and cleaning up dog poop. But writing and spending time with family and friends top the list.

Irvina: You just made me and the interns laugh! cheeky What is the single most bizarre thing you’ve ever done?

Rachel: Crossing the border with my son, a cat, a rat and a lizard.

Irvina: Wow! That sounds like an immigration story wink Whether it’s a hobby, a job or friendships, what would you say is your proudest accomplishment or achievement?

Rachel: Raising our son.

Irvina: Awe! Marin is a lucky little man! Of all the women you know, who exhibits the most beautiful qualities and why?

Rachel: The most beautiful women I know are those who've taken the time to get to know themselves and who freely share what they've found in the world.

Irvina: I like that a lot! And what would you pass on to younger generations about beauty?

Rachel: That beauty is simply a smile plastered across the face of a woman doing something she loves.  Nothing more.

What actions do you find beautiful in the women you know?

What do you enjoy doing with your free time?

In early September, we had a fun Street Art Workshop called “Mirrored.” The purpose of our workshop was to show how our physical attributes give us the ability to perform positive actions in our daily lives, like how our EYES give us the ability to SEE the life surrounding us, how our LEGS give us the ability to MOVE forward, and how our ARMS give us the ability to EMBRACE one another. To fulfill the Rewrite Beautiful mission, we asked the participants to focus on how each chosen body part portrayed the qualities of CREATIVITY, KINDNESS, and STRENGTH.  We then hung up the Street Art at local Ensign Jr. High School in Newport Beach! To show the community how mirrors can reflect beauty in a different light! For more pictures of “Mirrored,” check out this link HERE
