I love to sing, and I really want to help girls and guys with eating disorders that they are truly beautiful, regardless of what the scale says.

I am uniquely beautiful because I've learned to not see my flaws as weaknesses, but as strengths that make me who I am. Nobody is better at being me than me. At times when I feel alone, I've been able to be a friend to myself, instead of an enemy who criticizes herself. When I'm helping others, I also make sure to take care of myself first.
Pinky Swear:
I, Laurie Chin, pinky swear with Rewrite Beautiful that I will honor my body by treating it like a temple: by offering it only the healthiest food that will make my body happy, exercising regularly through yoga, and spreading only positivity and hope to all my relationships I develop or will develop throughout my lifetime.

After being in recovery the actions i have put into place have not only benefited me but others, i am now a case worker for a mental health non profit organization and helping others move forward and lead for themselves and not follow others. This makes me feel unique and beautiful because its something i wouldnt have accomplished if i didnt choose recovery

My love and gratefulness for life and others make me uniquely beautiful. Through struggles with an eating disorder in high school and Christ's restoration, I have found a passion for valuing my body and identity, encouraging others to embrace theirs, and living with joy and purpose. I enjoy serving yearly at an orphanage in Mexico, mentoring young women struggling with eating disorders, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, and serving as a high school leader at my church. I am currently working as the Director of Outreach for Castlewood Treatment Centers and am pursuing a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy.
Pinky Swear:
I am committed to owning my own choices and taking care of myself by listening to and meeting my own needs and wants in a healthy way in order to ultimately serve others better. I am invested in balance - eating foods that nourish my body while also enjoying foods for fun; exercising hard some days and taking other days off for rest; and surrounding myself by an encouraging community that supports my growth.

What makes me unique? My ability to conquer, grow and learn from the obstacles I've faced. I am profoundly inspired to live a full and authentic life after overcoming bulimia. Where am I today? In school, working on my PsyD. I want to inspire others on their journey and support them in finding their own happiness.
Pinky Swear:
I pinky swear to embrace my amazing body, bring light and love to my soul, fill up on yummy, nourishing food and to share my joy with others that me happy.

I feel that I am uniquely beautiful because I try to unite the world through small acts of kindness, through my singing, and through my writing. I write poetry to speak the truth, to tell my story, and to inspire others. As a body image activist, I want people to know that recovery from an eating disorder is possible, and that their disorder does not define them. It's taken me 11 years to get to this point, but I finally feel happy and healthy. Recovery is possible, I promise. And you are beautiful too, with all your imperfections.
Pinky Swear:
I pinky swear to continue to surround myself with positive people and to not be afraid to nourish my body.

I think I am uniquely beautiful because I have a desire to unite the world. I have a strong passion for so many different avenues of life including music, art in most every form, speaking about tough topics, living honestly following hope and never giving into fear. I have battled myself with bulimia as a teenager and it is a daily struggle to remember to allow myself balance when it comes to what and how I eat. I think the best thing you can do is to remember to be yourself, no matter how society views you. If you are a good person, please, by all means be that and feel no shame in all that you are. I know it's hard. I have had my hair every color, I had my oldest daughter when I was 17 and it's a daily struggle to remember to not give in to the pressures to look a certain way. I very much want to look a certain way for myself, but never to fit it. Why? I don't want to fit in. And neither should you. I very much want to be funky spunky little me. I want to get more tattoos some day...and guess what...? They don't make me any less beautiful or special or sweet or caring or compassionate.....they make me original....and that, is something beautiful....no matter how hard it may to remember at times. You are perfect, I promise.
Pinky Swear:
I pinky swear to eat a good balance of food....to attempt more exercise...and to include positive people in my life. I believe most everyone has good in them...truth.

I am uniquely beautiful because I have too big of an appetite for life to have let my eating disorder continue to destroy it. I am vibrant, compassionate, caring, creative, and strong. My only small struggles with it now remind me of how strong-minded I am, and how truly proud I am of myself. To look back to remember a time when I didn't recognize the person I was makes me take a look in the mirror today and smile. Because i'm no longer looking in the mirror for imperfections to criticize, I'm looking at me. I like who I see nowadays.
Pinky Swear:
I pinky swear to always love myself in such a way that my mind will never allow room for the thoughts that I once let take over my life.

I am unique because of my ambition and drive. The fire in my belly constantly fuels me to be more than extraordinary in all of my endeavors. This quality allows me to gain confidence in my talents as a performer. Although I have doubted myself on countless occasions, my ambition reminds me of my endless potential. Several obstacles could have stopped me from pursuing my goals, but I always fight harder for my dreams.

I am unique because I have a unique mind. I am a very kind and compassionate human being with a strong passion for the experience of life. I surround myself with true friend whom I respect and admire, and though the life-long pursuit of knowledge and the academic pursuit of psychology and philosophy, I am constantly striving to be the best person that I can be and make the most out of the massive amounts of potential that I possess! I don't have time for insecurity or negativity regarding the superficial aspects of my physical features.
Pinky Swear:
I swear that I will treat my body right and give my mind the nourishment that it needs to function at it's best. I will honor my body by nourishing it with healthy food, exercise and positive relationships.

What makes me unique is the resilience I show no matter what life has thrown at me. I have hit rock bottom several times with Anorexia and other mental health disorders. However, I refuse to give up. I am at a point where I appreciate my body and show my friends that it's okay to love yourself and feel confident in yourself. I am now a nursing student and want to use my future career as a way to help others and set a role model example that a happy, healthy, and beautiful life is possible.
Pinky Swear:
I pinky swear from this point on to honor my body by nourishing it with healthy and tasty food that it enjoys, exercise within limits and not go overboard or obsess on calories, and form only positive relationships in my life with people who lift me up, not tear me down or hurt me.

I am unique because I have found ways to truly appreciate the beauty in everything, no matter how ugly it is. I am compassionate, patient, understanding, and open minded towards all situations and people that I come across in my life. I always try to make all situations positive and I aim to help others try to do the same. I have lots of faith and believe that everything happens for a reason, so no matter how difficult the situation, I believe that I will be strong and hopeful enough to overcome it, and know that things just keep getting better from here. No matter how down I can get, I try to remember the blessings in my life and give thanks for my family, friends, and God who are always there for me.
Pinky Swear:
I pinky swear to always love my self and my body by continuing to eat healthy foods, exercising, and living a healthy lifestyle. A big part of being healthy is strong relationships, so I swear to make sure I always build new or current relationships to be as positive as they can be.

I am beautiful and unique because of my open heart and longing to help others. I have faith that God loves me as I am and not as the world "thinks I should be." I try and remember the little things that makes life wonderful, and not look at the bad.
Pinky Swear:
That I will stop harming my body with eating disorders and self harm, that I will learn to completely love myself for who I am regardless of size or what the world tells me I should be.

I am beautiful beacuse God in my heart helps me forgive when it is hard, love when its painful, and allows me the courage to keep moving forward despite my mistakes. I like pink things, fluffy girly things. Makeup is fun, but I know it is most important to beautify the heart cause that is the make up that lasts and makes a difference in the world. I want to be non-judgemental, kind, compassionate, and thoughtful.
Pinky Swear:
I will continue to honor my body by nourishing it with healthy food, exercise, and positive relationships.

I am uniquely beautiful because I am compassionate, kind, loving, and trustworthy. Specifically, what makes me beautiful is that I am a loyal and dependable friend, daughter, co-worker, student, and roommate, among all other positions that I hold in my life; I am strong in that I can stand up for myself and who I am and what I believe in, as well as the well-being of my loved ones; and I am resilient in that I can always find a way to overcome all obstacles that come my way despite the difficulty of the situation.
Pinky Swear:
I pinky swear that I will honor my body by leading a healthy lifestyle, which includes consuming healthy foods, exercising daily, and maintaining genuine and personal relationships.

I am unique and beautiful because I am adventurous and compassionate. I am willing to take risks to accomplish my dreams, even if that includes: moving to a new state, a new country, going back to school at 28, and/or feeling way out of my comfort zone. I am unique because I am empathetic and care deeply about all those suffering in the developing world. I am beautiful because this empathy, and overwhelming emotion for people I have yet to meet, energizes me to chases my dreams, travel the world, and help those less fortunate.
Pinky Swear:
I pinky swear that I will care for this healthy, beautiful body that God blessed me with. I pinky swear to physically, emotionally, and mentally nourish it and not harm it in any way.
